say sunset

We loved our stay at the Kahana Sunset. Oceanfront over the ocean. We say huge sea turtles daily from our balcony. The condo had everything we could need. The snorkeling gear was an awesome bonus, we seen lots of cool underwater life. Clean and close to lots of places. Would definitely stay again. Most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen.

Long story short, we rented apartments A4 and A5 at kahana Sunset location .A4 was a great place, updated kitchen ,everything you need, and more ,very nice place overall. A5 was very disappointing, old kitchen brocken pots and pans, broken and old utensils sad locking place .The rental cost of the to places where the same bud totally different standards.

BEWARE of unit A9! Look up the unit you are interested in specifically! Some are updated and nice, others are not! The grounds are still beautiful but with one building shut down (for years) and a large sinkhole by another, I wonder if Kahana Sunset will even be there the next time we visit. The pool is small but nice and warm. Grilling station is great! Unit A9... It was cute. Updated kitchen and carpet upstairs. Advertised air conditioning in all the rooms even though they clearly knew it didn't work. A mobile unit was in the living room and master bedroom. Nothing for the spare bedroom leaving it muggy and hot. After 2 days they pretended to look at it but obviously there was nothing they could do. Eventually brought us a fan. Internet didn't work. Took 3 days to fix (even then didn't really work). Now the BEDS. Horrible!!!! We even checked to make sure no one was playing a trick and switched the mattress with the box spring. That is how hard the mattress was. I felt bruised. The floppy old pullout couch was more comfortable (yikes right?). Lighting in the spare bedroom was almost non existent. Had to use phone flashlights to see in our luggage. With what is happening structurally around the resort I guess I understand why the owners of this unit don't update it but it is definitely something to be aware of. We will absolutely NOT be staying in this unit again.

4th stay here. Same condo, did not disappoint. Air conditioning had been added and appreciated. Grounds staff very friendly and helpful. Landscaping very nice.Since it's summer, all nearby beaches crowded so we appreciated the little beach. Easy check in/out. Parking a little frustrating (non assigned) as some visitors had friends multiple car rentals or stay-overs who used 2-5 spaces thereby requiring we park further than usual from our rented condo. If we did not assure refrigerator doors were tightly closed, ice in icemaker would melt and clog the ice dispenser. The lanai sunshade is automatic but still has not been fixed since Last visit..it keeps retracting every hour, so we have to get up to keep it extended. Minor inconveniences, but still an relaxing visit.

My photos are basically the same as others posted. The amenities were just as described. The view was spectacular! The condo was clean and the grounds were gorgeous. Every night there was staff cleaning the pool and facilities. There were staff tending to the gardens everyday and there was a cute herb garden that was free to pick from to cook on the giant grills that were shared by any other guests. Soda machine near the pool but they also had a free water filter for unlimited water bottle filling, which saved a lot of money. There were many guests here for the holiday but it was never overcrowded or noisy. There weee usually plenty of each chairs or recliners to use near the pool or around the grounds. The pool is very clean and warm! Even a small pool attached for littles which is great for parents of small children. If the ocean was too chilly it was very nice to be able to still swim. I liked the small, private cove which was secluded and very clean. Great place to enjoy a morning coffee. Overall this facility was absolutely amazing and if we ever go back, (Hawaii is just to expensive for us!), we would come back!

Facility is is nice and the pool area is beautiful. However, this property is facing a shoreline erosion problem that is affecting the building and property. If you don’t plan to lay on the beach, no problem. A large seawall exists to help keep large surf and tides away. Very small beach. I would imagine the beach is non-existent during large surf.
